Bass & Drums - Rock#1 / Beginner
Bass : An easy melodic line with some effects : Natural harmonics on the second measure and a vibrato on the fourth. Pay attention to syncope quavers to adjust with the drums
Drums: An easy groove rock , but with a specificity : a series of setbacks syncopated on two measures, among them three openings-closings charleston synchronized with the bass.
Bass & Drums - Funk#1 / Intermediate
Bass : A very "heavy" Funk. Don’t release too early the pressure of the left hand fingers and beat heavily on your strings ..! I played the line of the third measure on pizzicato for more heaviness in the sound
Drums : A funk groove, which begins with a long accent on the first beat with the open charleston , what amplifies the effect of " rhythmic course ." The second and third times , by contrast , are more hopping and dancing !
Bass & Drums - Fusion#1 / Advanced
Bass : It’s possible to play this bass part on simple Slap ( boost by going back ), but the resulting sound will not be quite the same . For my part here are the STEP techniques and effects used : Thumb and middle finger back and forth , kicking RH- LH , LH bent fingers typed , printed , LH tapping , trills and hammer
Drums : This very " jazz - fusion" drums part have been inspired by the techniques of Jean Luc STEP. The sequence between the first and the second measure enables to use the two succeeding shots on the bass drum, in an offset way. For this,I used the "SLIDE” technique or glide on my bass drum pedal . I even advise to use a pedal as smooth as possible and shoes without roughness beneath. Every detail counts !
